Big and small departure milestones continue to whizz past at the rate of naughts. Most of which will, alas, go unrecorded here.
One of the bigger ones however, occurred last Friday night - the sayonara/sobetsukai party. I joined forces with fellow reluctant escapee E, to have a few kanpai with 80 or so of our dearest friends and acquaintances.
At various times during the last few weeks E and I took turns at questioning the viability and desirability of having such a party, both feeling too sad to say goodbye and too stressed to be bothered in equal measures. However, I for one (and I think E for two), am so glad we did. It was truly amazing to me to see so many of the people who had touched my life here in the one room, and so interesting to see how many little sub-sets there were within the whole.
Frustrating thing of course, was that I didn't get much of a chance to spend any real quality time with any of them. Just as a conversation would get underway, I would see someone else come through the door and would find it difficult not to immediately let out a squeal, and go racing over to give them a hug. But I think most people understood, or at least I know they will when/if they find themselves in the same position some day.
As well as not having enough time (a recurring theme I know), nor food (and so too much alcohol, another recurring theme) and I didn't take enough photos. In fact, at the end of the night I had only but a few random shots. Here's my favorite though.
Well, E, there's no going back now sweetie!
